Ted Cruz Gets it, Rips Campus PC Culture at Princeton
Shocking I know, but Ted Cruz is not a fan of the recent wave of college protesters, at his alma mater Princeton. After calling them "pampered teenagers who are scared of an idea that challenges their world view," he really lit into the entire politically correct crusade...
"I think it is more than a little ironic that the activities are targeting a leftist progressive Democrat like Woodrow Wilson. I am not a fan of Woodrow Wilson. I think his policies did a great deal of damage to this country, but that being said I think the protesters at Princeton who are embracing this radical political correctness where they are claiming a right to be offended at anything they deem contrary to their vision of the world – that is completely antithetical to the mission of a university.""Was Woodrow Wilson an unmitigated racist? Of course he was. Should we denounce it and call it out for what it was? Yes. But the idea that we should somehow be sanitizing our history because our ears are too fragile to recognize that the course of human existence has been a complicated course beset with human frailty – that undermines the entire purpose of a university."
We've been saying this about Ben Carson, but lately that Ted Cruz...
Because he's totally right on the bitcoin. These college students are a bunch of babies with their security blankets their cis-gendered mothers gave them when they were cis-toddlers (read Dear Mizzou Morons: You're the 'Boys who Cried Racist'). We've got a loud little generation of babies who haven't experienced a real crisis in their entire pampered and sheltered lives, so they're creating one of their own. It's pathetic, too.
Were people in our history angels? No, because all of our founding fathers, all of our movers and shakers in history, be it American, European, Indigenous Peoples, or whatever, were human. They had human flaws. Some were racists, or sexists. Some had slaves (when slavery was legal), some cheated on their spouses. Some were douches. But they still made history, so they shouldn't be excluded from it because they were flawed or even rotten characters, just as today the history-makers shouldn't be excluded in future text books because they were douches. We can't rewrite history to make it "safe." Ted Cruz gets it.
