1,800 Illegals to be Deported. Obama Admin Grants Citizenship Instead...
The government just found a gaggle of illegal immigrants. I know, I know. Hardly news (see ICE Brags About Arresting 101 Illegals... Out of 172,000). What makes these ones so special? Well, these ones might pose a security risk to the country. Which is kind of the case with every illegal immigrant, sure, but especially these ones. They come from bad countries. So the feds set out to deport them, because they're illegal and extra dangerous. Sounds simple enough, right? Except somewhere along the line, the White House "accidentally" granted them citizenship instead. Naturally.
On Monday, the Inspector General reported 858 individuals from "special interest countries" -- meaning countries that are considered to be "of concern to the national security" of the US -- were supposed to have been deported but were instead granted US citizenship. But the truth is the report is even worse than reported, with more than 1,800 individuals naturalized.
The White House said Tuesday it's "clear" some systems need improving following a glitch with DHS' fingerprint system that led to hundreds of people inadvertently being granted citizenship.
White House spokesman Josh Earnest [said]... The Obama administration "certainly takes seriously the consideration that is made in terms of protecting our national security in terms of our immigration system."
So in other words, "Oopsie. Super duper sorry about that guys!"
The Citizenship Fairy Godmother?
The worst part of all this? Granting citizenship is apparently easy. I'm deliberately side-stepping a joke which involves Amy Schumer and sex. Watch how I dance. But stay focused. From the ease at which these immigrants were gifted with American citizenry, you'd think someone's finger slipped and hit a button, and *poof* magical citizenshipness. But taking away said citizenship? Apparently that's not as simple. Reversing the mistake? Not as easy as saying your regretful sex was rape.
See, revoking citizenship requires proof of fraud for each case. It involves steps. Steps, as I again must point out, were all avoided in waving the citizenship wand. Which means government must conduct a legal scavenger hunt to uncitizen these dweebs. Government needs lawyers, court dates, documents, and testimonies. All because someone hit the "yes" instead of "no" button on the Giant Make a Citizen NOW machine.
Rectifying this mistake is a big pain in the rear for something so easily avoided. The paranoid part of me wonders if that's by design.
Our immigration system needs so much work...
By the way, this speaks volumes about the state of our immigration system. There's a huge disparity between giving and taking citizenship. Something which is so easily given should also be easily taken away, right? Or better yet, something which is so hard to take away should be earned. As in not given. Remember earning things? It's what people did before welfare and Obamacare.
Americans grew sick of this sort of incompetence years ago (read Mexico Now Wants Border Wall of Their Own. To Keep Out Illegals. The Irony...). Hence why people are so fed up with the Obama administration. But if you complain and want immigrants to come here legally? Oh well. Too bad, you RACIST!
