The California State Senate’s Committee on Public Safety has voted Tuesday to pass Governor Gavin Newsom's tyrannical push to add a 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution.

The 28th Amendment attempts to enshrine the following principles into the U.S. Constitution:

• Raising the minimum age to purchase a firearm to 21;
• Universal background checks;
• Instituting an undefined waiting period for all gun purchases; and
• Barring civilian purchase of “assault weapons.”

“A man of action, Governor Gavin Newsom has the backbone to actually do something about the gun fetish culture around weapons of war, and tackle the relentless problem of gun violence and mass shootings,” Senator Aisha Wahab said. “As someone impacted by gun violence, I have an obligation to elevate the voices of victims and those of us left behind in the wake of tragedy.”

In other words, Wahab’s quote implies that restricting access to guns will somehow save lives and crack down on crime. Well, like every Californian pushes to crack down on crime, the opposite actually proves to be true. It is also interesting how “the relentless problem of gun violence” always seems to occur in the most liberal areas. But Wahab implies it must be due to "the gun fetish culture around weapons of war."

In case it wasn’t obvious to progressives in Calif., criminals don’t tend to obey laws. Preventing people from legally obtaining guns will only affect law-abiding citizens who may need them to defend themselves.

Just look at Chicago, it not only has some of the strictest gun laws but was also the “murder capital” of the United States in 2022. Thus, at the very least, this shows that guns are not the problem here.

The U.K. and its “knife epidemic” that came about after they banned handguns is another great example of how guns don't cause crime.

"Newsom is willing to offer this route to impose his immoral policies on the entire nation is an ironic recognition that the tide of history has turned against him and a genuine admission that his failed policies cannot withstand court scrutiny," Firearms Policy Coalition said in a statement Tuesday. “Governor Newsom's unabashed pursuit to stifle the rights of countless peace-loving Americans presents a stark awakening for those who stand against authoritarianism and undue state aggression.”

Progressives hate AK-47s and say nothing about the fact that the majority of gun murder is attributable to handguns. Handguns killed 19x as many people as all rifles put together in 2016, according to the FBI.

Newsom lets his state run wild with drugs and crime and wants to take away the only thing people have left to defend themselves. Is it just a coincidence that both criminals and progressives love gun control?
