800 NYC Children Suffer Lead Poisoning Under de Blasio's Watch
Keep this in mind when a leftist douchesadilla claims they care about kids (NARRATOR: They don't care about kids). New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio took time out of his busy ignoring-his-job schedule to go to Texas. Where he was refused entry into a detention center for illegal immigrants, and while de Blasio was concerned about children from other countries, American children WHO LIVE IN THE CITY HE IS MAYOR OF were suffering from lead poisoning.
In the last several years, the city has been aware of more than 800 children living in public housing who had tested positive for levels of lead poisoning deemed of concern by the federal government, the Daily News has learned. This stunning number stands in stark contrast to the city's repeated claims that only 19 children living in NYCHA accommodation have registered elevated blood-lead levels in the last decade.
That's because the city chooses not to count hundreds of children with elevated lead levels for whom the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention recommends public health intervention. Instead it relies on its own far more conservative level to trigger an investigation.
As a result, the city Health Department has been aware of these children for years but did not notify the city Housing Authority and did not inspect their apartments for the presence of lead paint.
For those of you playing along at home, de Blasio being prevented from pandering at the border on behalf of illegal immigrants got A LOT more media attention. What didn't get much attention at all was de Blasio ignoring the children who live in the city for which he's responsible. Yes, the fault mostly lies with incompetent government agencies and a bloated bureaucracy. Of which the Mayor of New York City is elected to be in charge.
Maybe we should get Donald Trump to tweet about it. That seems to be the only way people pay attention.
Meanwhile, 800 children have lead poisoning in New York City, but their mayor can't get any political points for addressing them. It's but an accounting snafu for him, looks like. Just tweak what "lead poisoning" means and the problem will go away. Now excuse him while he flies over 1500 miles away for some much needed publicity.
Caring.
