Abbott To Bands Who Dropped Out Of SXSW Festival Over Military Sponsorship: "Bye. Don’t come back.”

A bunch of woke musicians dropped out of the SXSW musical festival in protest of the military sponsoring it because for some reason that made them very upset. And Governor Greg Abbott responded by saying what anyone with half a brain would say: "Bye. Don’t come back.”
SXSW then responded to Abbott with a bunch of gobbledygook.
“It’s more crucial than ever that we come together to solve these greater humanitarian issues,” the festival said in response.
Unfortunately, I have no idea what that means or how that is even a response but I digress.
According to Entertainment Week:
Governor Abbott kicked off a back-and-forth with the entertainment, tech, and music festival currently taking place in Austin, TX. Over 60 bands have dropped out of scheduled performances at SXSW due to the U.S. Army's sponsorship and the inclusion of defense contractors on conference panels.
Abbott basically told the musicians to not let the door hit them on the way out. "Bye. Don’t come back,” Abbott wrote on social media in response to the news. “Austin remains the HQ for the Army Futures Command. San Antonio is Military City USA. We are proud of the U.S. military in Texas. If you don’t like it, don’t come here."
But SXSW didn't appreciate his interference, releasing a statement of their own that begins, "SXSW does not agree with Governor Abbott."
"We are an organization that welcomes diverse viewpoints," the statement continues. "Music is the soul of SXSW, and it has long been our legacy. We fully respect the decision these artists made to exercise their right to free speech. Across the globe, we are witnessing unspeakable tragedies, the rise of repressive regimes, and the increasing spread of violent conflict. It’s more crucial than ever that we come together to solve these greater humanitarian issues."
Firstly, no one said they had no right to do what they did. This is not a “free speech” issue. This is a nonissue. But obviously, a bunch of bands that no one has even heard of needed attention to make themselves the least bit relevant.
Secondly, what is the point of protesting the military? Are we not allowed to have that anymore? Do we not deserve to protect our nation? Unclear if they even know.
Thirdly, what on earth does the U.S. military have to do with “unspeakable tragedies across the globe,” and how would protesting a musical festival in Texas help with that?
But this is what the Left does. If something is not controversial and is a nonissue, it must be turned into all of that. Why? I don’t know because they don’t even know. They just know that if they don’t have something to cry about they will cry about not crying.
To be clear: SXSW does seem to support the military. However, it also seems as if they are trying to be very careful so that they do not piss off the woke mob.
But you can support their right to free speech even if you don’t agree with them without walking on eggshells in fear of being canceled.
Because I too support their “right” to not attend a music festival in Texas. However, that does not make them any less pathetic for crying because the military is its sponsor.
Therefore, I am on Abbott’s side. And as he said, “Bye. Don’t come back.”
