De Blasio Demands NYers Abide by Eco-Friendly Rules, But Refuses to Himself). This is hardly news, I know. But Al Gore using thirty-four times more energy than the average American?

I'm not mad as much as I am impressed.

The past year, Gore's home energy use averaged 19,241 kilowatt hours (kWh) every month, compared to the U.S. household average of 901 kWh per month.

Gore guzzles more electricity in one year than the average American family uses in 21 years.

In September of 2016, Gore's home consumed 30,993 kWh in just one month – as much energy as a typical American family burns in 34 months.

That's right. Al's been so busy warning the world of impending environmental doom (see Al Gore Blames Man-Made 'Climate Change' for Brexit), he forgot to divulge this interesting tidbit of information. All this time he's been taking advantage of Mother Earth himself by using her precious energy to heat his swimming pools. Also I'm guessing he leaves all the lights on in his house.

During the last 12 months, Gore devoured 66,159 kWh of electricity just heating his pool. That is enough energy to power six average U.S. households for a year.

From August 2016 through July 2017, Gore spent almost $22,000 on electricity bills.

Gore paid an estimated $60,000 to install 33 solar panels. Those solar panels produce an average of 1,092 kWh per month, only 5.7% of Gore's typical monthly energy consumption.

This is all coming from the same guy who seems to think a few people driving cars with crappy MPG will surely destroy the environment.

Look, cooling a mansion is no easy task. Maybe Al Gore rebuilt the arctic glaciers in his home to make life easier for a family of polar bear refugees. Doesn't matter to us. Just leave our minivans out of it.

These are more than just little "gotcha!" moments. Which are pretty satisfying in and of themselves. But there's a more important point being made here. Elitist leftists want to enforce piles of policies onto regular folks which they have no intention of living by themselves. Hypocrisy is more than just a trend among progressives, it's a staple of leftism.
