Al Sharpton Demands Answers Over CNN's Firing Of Don Lemon, Says He's 'Completely Stunned'
In case you forgot, Don Lemon was let go by CNN this week. No one really cares, because the story was buried by the arguably much more important departure of Tucker Carlson from Fox News. But one person really, really cares: Al Sharpton. And he wants answers.
In a joint statement with Marc Morial, the president and CEO of the National Urban League, Sharpton said: "We are completely stunned at the termination of Don Lemon. Throughout his career, Don has been a superb journalist who was very open to the civil rights community on issues others wouldn’t touch… With the health of our democracy undergoing perhaps its greatest test, we cannot afford to silence his voice.”
Of course it's about "dEmOcRaCy". What else.
“We would like to know what he alludes to when he said there are greater things at play, which is why we urge for a full explanation as to why he was let go in such a fashion."

In his tweet announcing his firing, Lemon said: “It is clear that there are some larger issues at play.” My guess is those "larger issues" are actually something quite simple, like, he's too partisan, and CEO Chris Licht is trying to make the network less partisan. Or perhaps it's even more simple- they don't like him.
Licht released a very tasteful statement on his firing: "CNN and Don have parted ways. Don will forever be part of the CNN family, and we thank him for his contributions over the past 17 years. We wish him well and will be cheering him on in his future endeavors.”
It could have had something to do with Lemon's comments over women, most notably the now infamous "past her prime jab at Nikki Haley. Some rumors claim it was related to Lemon's spar with Vivek Ramaswamy over gun rights and the Civil War. Whatever it is, Al Sharpton will get to the bottom of it. Maybe.
