The Amish Turnout For Trump In This Key Swing State Was “Unprecedented”
Historically, the Amish were not really a vocal minority in politics. They stuck to themselves and it was believed that the government left them alone. However, somewhere along the lines of the progressive purist to the tyrannical nanny state, the Amish and their farms were targeted for reasons only a tyrant would claim. And with the help of some fellow Republicans, like Scott Presler, this religious minority turned out in record numbers.
In Jan. 2024, Pennsylvania troopers executed a search warrant on Amos Miller’s farm for reasons that the government should have no right to. This does not tend to win over their vote. So while the government worked to eliminate their right to farm, the Amish turned out for Trump in this key battleground state.
According to The New York Post:
The state’s famed “Pennsylvania Dutch” registered to vote in “unprecedented numbers” in response to a January federal raid on a local raw milk farm in Bird in Hand, Pa., a source familiar with the situation told The Post.
The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture stormed Amos Miller’s farm Jan. 4 after reports of illnesses in children linked to raw dairy products purchased there, according to the local media outlet Lancaster Farming.
The Amish community saw the move as an overzealous reach by the government and was planning to vote for GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, whose party favors less government intervention.
They saw this “as an overzealous reach by the government” because it was. There is no other way to possibly explain it. And we know this is not about “safety” because the government often uses the term “safe” to mean “politically safe.” So when they say it is for your good, they really mean they are looking out for the bureaucracy.
Actual numbers of Amish voters were unclear as of Tuesday night, though horse-and-buggy rigs were seen at polling locations in photographs from the region.
This could not have been possible without the tyrannical overreach of big government.
Moral of the story: Don’t mess with the Amish.
