Think way back to last week, after the vice presidential debate. The cry from the left was that Mike Pence was "mansplaining" to Kamala Harris by politely disagreeing with her. Which was a) complete bullcookies, and b) hypocritical because you know none of them would care about "mansplaining" during the Amy Coney Barrett nomination. Where she's been stealing the dignity of Democrat senators and smiling at them as she does it (see KLOBUCHAR CHALLENGES JUDGE BARRETT ON ROE V. WADE. MY WHAT A FACE PLANT. and AMY CONEY BARRETT RESPONDS TO LIBERALS ATTACKING HER FAMILY & RELIGION, AND SHE DOESN'T HOLD BACK).

Sen. Chris Coons rattled off a list of other Supreme Court cases and how the conservative male justices voted, with the clear implication that Barrett would just blindly vote the exact same way. Her responds showed that she's just better at this than them.

I hope that you aren't suggesting that I don't have my own mind or that I couldn't think independently or that I would just decide, "Oh, let me see what Justice Scalia has said about this in the past," because I assure you I have my own mind.

I want to be clear. The left's idea of "mansplaining" is also bullcookies. That's why I keep putting it in quotes. If there was a way to literally do sarcastic finger quotes with an eyeroll in blog form, I'd do that. Disagreeing with someone who is a different gender than you isn't anything other than a difference of opinion. That's what a debate is supposed to be. That's what a hearing for a seat on the highest court of the land is. Both Amy Coney Barrett and Kamala Harris should be treated the same as anyone else in the position. Yet the same people who lied about how Mike Pence treated Harris don't seem to have a problem treating Barrett the exact way they accused Pence. It's what they do. It's who they are.

More importantly, Amy Coney Barrett threw it right back in the senator's smug patriarchal face. Because when you're in command of your facts and arguments, you don't need the Democrat party's identity politics.
