Anne Frank's Name To Be Removed From German Day Care Center, Her Name Upsets Immigrants
The problem with “diversity” is that it’s not possible to have that without discriminating against another group of people. It’s also impossible to be inclusive in a nonracist way. But for some reason, the left is able to get away with just about anything as long as it’s in the name of “diversity,” even if that means erasing history.
A German daycare center named after Anne Frank has been renamed to avoid upsetting immigrants.
In other words, the left is using “inclusion” as a way to erase history.
The building in Tangerhütte, Saxony-Anhalt, will be rebranded “Weltentdecker,” which means “Explorers of the World.”
Calls for renaming reportedly came from parents who considered the context behind Anne Frank's name was just too complicated for kids to understand.
According to the city’s mayor, Andreas Brohm, the renaming is part of a broader concept that aims to celebrate diversity, and Frank is no longer aligned with that.
“Tangerhütte, with its educational institutions and all its civic engagement, stands for an open-minded Germany,” Brohm said, according to The European Conservative.
A report noted that “It is reported that parents with migrant backgrounds feel uncertain about the name and find it challenging to explain to their children,” according to The Jerusalem Post.
One thing that is so irritating about this is that not only have these people intentionally moved to another country, but in some ways have now demanded they accommodate their requests.
Some critics have argued that you can teach kids the significance of Frank in an age-appropriate way and that "renaming the daycare center sends the wrong signal, especially in a time marked by increasing antisemitism,” The Post reported.
It is unclear if the children’s parents were Muslims, but according to The European Conservative, Germany has had an influx of migrants from Muslim countries in the past decades, with hundreds of thousands arriving in Europe since 2015.
“Parents and staff desire a name that aligns more with the revised concept, a name free from global political association,” Brohm said.
In other words, it is probably safe to say they mean a name not associated with Israel.
The BILD newspaper added "Ultimately, the parents and employees wanted a name that was more 'child-friendly' and 'better suited to their concept.' Their needs are more important than the global political situation,” according to The Jerusalem Post.
Obviously, the International Auschwitz Committee does not agree with this decision.
“To dismiss our history so lightly, especially during these times marked by resurging antisemitism and right-wing extremism, and to view Anne Frank's name as unsuitable in the public sphere, fills us with dread and anxiety about our nation's culture of remembrance,” Vice-president Christoph Heubner said.
It says a lot when people feel so entitled that they not only refuse to accept the native culture of where they have immigrated to but actively try and change it while woke officials would rather do anything than be labeled some ‘ism’ or ‘phobia.’
Not everything in history is meant to bring joy to people. But we teach them to kids so we can learn from past mistakes. You don’t give up because it might be too “difficult.”
At the very least, if the parents really hated the name of the daycare that much, you would think they would have chosen another one to send their kids to.
All that said, since Germany does not have the best historical reputation when it comes to the Jews, you would think that the center would have handled this situation just a little bit differently. But I guess anything for diversity, right?
