Rep. AOC says something smart for a change (kinda), identifies Pro-Trump area where the Democrat Party is most in danger
Already known for being extra, social media influencer Rep. AOC has been extra extra this week. It's been one silly meltdown after another, whether it is not knowing what a Nazi is or being in her feelings because criminal illegal migrants are being deported. However, the social media influencer stumbled upon a salient point during an appearance on Jon Stewart's podcast about the biggest "problem" with Trump's second term.
I put problem in finger-quotes, because it's like the boss says about the two sides saying the same thing differently. Whereas we say that America is at a cultural tipping point where Trump is mainstream, Rep. AOC says "like, ZOMG, we're at a cultural tipping point where TRUMP. IS. MAINSTREAM."
The first time, people were really on edge, on guard, and very vigilant about any break that he would have with these norms. This time, the norms are becoming him, like they are embracing him ... All of these people that were scared before about being associated with him, from the most common basic level to the most elite level, they’re all-in now...
.@AOC on the dangers of a newly normalized Trump and his billionaire feeding frenzy.

She points to the example of Oscar de la Renta allowing the Trump women to where is close. Rep. AOC is pining for the days of when she could have the designer canceled for it if enough if enough of her fellow lefties repeated the same dumb opinion on Twitter. Or, I guess, on BlueSky now.
It wouldn't be Rep. AOC if she didn't say something derpy about "billionaires." America has been living under a billionaire oligarchy for the past four years. The difference is her billionaires work behind the scenes funding non-profit, NGOs, and District Attorney races, whereas our billionaires edgelord on social media.
The broader point about an American culture where no one wants to be called a Democrat outside of a handful of urban areas that Democrat policies have destroyed cannot be understated. Others have noticed as well.
I honestly never thought I would live to see the day when it was this culturally uncool to be a Democrat.
As someone who has been socially ostracized for being a Republican my entire life, let me tell you, this is a brave new world out here...

Akaash Singh: Democrats feel like an old company, Republicans feel like a young startup
During our Inauguration series of interviews, there was a consistent theme that both sides of the aisle acknowledged:
The Democratic Party has a major branding issue.

Time will tell how far along we are in our "cultural tipping point." We're all looking at YOU, Mark Zuckerberg. What I'm most curious to see is how all-in on the Democrat Party celebrities are willing to go moving forward. George Clooney was dispatched to help force Joe Biden out of the race, and a bulk of the billion dollars Kamala Harris raised was put toward celebrities to say how cool and vibes and brat she was. It blew up in all of their faces. How deep in their Democrat convictions are celebrities now that America is saying it is culturally uncool to be one?
At least Democrats have a bench of young leaders to rely on. Like Rep. AOC and... I'm sure they'll figure it out.
