Last I checked, the US Capitol Police were the only police officers the Democrats actually liked. After the botched the handling of the January 6 fiasco, after they shot an unarmed Trump supporter, and a handful of them testified before Congress, the entire lot of them were hailed as heroes of the Republic or some such nonsense. But Popular Instagram influencer and part-time congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez doesn't seem to share the fondness for the Capitol Police or, at least, not anymore.

Approached on the steps of the capitol building, AOC ranted about how the Capitol Police were happy to help the rioters, how they "held doors open" for them--effectively, how they were in league with the "insurrectionists."

"There were actual officers working with this [the riot], and we never got to the bottom of that, and we never got any answers about that. And then, to this day, we're just supposed to pretend that that never happened? I have no idea what happened to the people on the inside who were very clearly sympathetic with what was going on and opening the doors wide open for that. [...] We're not safe."

I mean, this seems like something, just maybe, her party's January 6 Select Committee could have looked into. I mean, I know they aren't fond of actually getting to the bottom of anything--nothing they've released at this point has been of any consequence, although it has, at times, been quite entertaining. But In looking into what the police actually did that day, they might uncover some things they would rather leave alone, like the notion that many of the rioters might have actually been invited into the building by people who, they thought, would have prevented them had it been something they weren't allowed to do. And that would destroy the entire narrative they are still attempting, and failing--mind you--to construct.

Instead of yelling at cameras, AOC should go march herself into the Jan 6 committee and demand answers. I know we'd all love to see how that goes.
