Even amid a constant push for gun control from the left, it's clear as day just how important the Second Amendment really is. We keep hearing about "common sense" gun laws that will magically make the world a safer place. But you'll never catch leftists talking about how many times guns have saved the lives of ordinary folk (the ones who don't get police escorts everywhere they go). Case in point, this Georgia woman would likely be dead had she not exercised her right to keep and bear arms.

"Records indicate that the deceased had harassed the female by forcing his presence on her, striking her, and damaging property of the female's friends," and incident report said. "Two separate reports were made over the last two days reflecting this activity."

Not a lot of women can just Holly Holm their way out of getting assaulted. That's why the good lord gave us guns (read Downtown Mugger Gets Thwarted by Woman With Gun). When you're in a tough spot and don't have extra time to spare waiting for the police to join the party, a gun is the difference between life and death. It's called "The Great Equalizer" for a reason.

He "approached [her] in a manner that reportedly caused [her] to fear for her safety." The woman allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot the man once in the chest, killing him. The woman remained at the scene and is cooperating with homicide detectives, authorities said.

These situations send a clear message to criminals: this is what happens when you make someone choose between their life and yours. People like living. Dying, not so much. People also don't like it when you threaten their life. Seems pretty clear to you and me. Now it's clear to this guy. Well, it was clear to him right before he went lights out. Better late than never.

The left keeps bragging about how much they love women. So why do they want to deny them the right to protect themselves? Case after case shows us that guns are helpful when you want to live. Maybe that's why White House gun control pansies can't seem to give a good reason for taking them away. The point is, the Second Amendment has consistently protected people's right to protect themselves. Many Americans would love to keep it around. You know, just those of us who don't like being assaulted. Call us old-fashioned...
