A middle school teacher in Florida has been arrested for allegedly hosting fight clubs in the classroom. How shocked are you this took place in Florida? (I love the Sunshine State, but man, y'all have some wild stuff going on down there.)

Twenty-three year old Angela Footman allegedly allowed her students to brawl while she relaxed at her desk. Some of her very strict rules included "no screaming" and "no pulling hair". So everything else was fair game, apparently. She was caught after some of her students told a school resource deputy they repeatedly participated in planned fights.

School administrators were also reportedly shown videos from two of the fights in March. Several sixth-grade girls told detectives they participated in the fights and were invited back for more, and said Footman gave instructions during the brawls, like "30 seconds, no screaming, no yelling, no phones." Detectives reviewed footage showing Footman sitting at her desk as the chaos erupted around her, failing to intervene. Just chillin'.

The footage showed three separate fights, including two between two girls, and one between several students whose identities were completely redacted. Footman denied that she organized the fights, but admitted she failed to intervene, call for help, or report the fights. Likely since she was caught on camera doing so.

But the students who were involved in the fights told investigators the fights were in fact pre-planned and that Footman allowed them to take place in her classroom. She has since been arrested and is four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

This is absolutely insane. What is going on in our public schools?? We have guidance counselors trans-ing the kids, extremely violent bullying, and now, teachers literally hosting fight clubs to keep students occupied. Homeschooling or private school (and even then, vetted to the extreme) seem to be the only viable options for parents wishing to protect their children.
