Victim blaming occurs when the victim of a crime or any wrongful act is held at fault for the harm that befell them. The Atlantic did just that by blaming the high prices Americans are experiencing on the consumer.
It was the antagonizing headline in all caps that did it for me on this one. However, in the same breath, the outlet claimed Bidenonimcs was nothing less than commendable. To say a line has been crossed here is an underestimate.
“If people are so mad about high prices, why do they keep buying so many expensive things?” Annie Lowrey patronizingly asks as she attempts to do damage control for Sleepy Joe.
“People hate inflation, just not enough to spend less: This is one of the central tensions of today’s economy, in which things are going great yet everyone is miserable. And in some ways, Americans have nobody to blame but themselves,” Lowrey wrote.
Inflation has left Americans with no good choices, especially when it comes to necessities.
CBS ran an article last week claiming that the average American household must spend an additional $11,434 annually just to maintain the same standard of living they enjoyed in Jan. of 2021, according to a recent analysis of government data.
Pretty much everyone agrees that Biden’s economic policies have delivered higher inflation and a lack of financial security. Well, everyone except The Atlantic.
Only 14 percent of voters say Biden has made them better off, and 82 percent said their biggest financial stress was price increases, according to a recent survey.
Inflation has outpaced any income gains for nearly every month Biden has been in office. But now left-wing idiots want to add insult to injury as they attempt to further gaslight the masses as if inflation is your fault and not the man whose name is on the economic policies.
“It should be good news that Americans are better off than they were pre-pandemic. It should be good news that people can afford more, even if prices are high. But then why is everyone so mad about prices?” Lowrey wrote.
I am so confused right now. Is the economy doing good or bad? Is it a good or bad thing people are spending? Lowrey has no clue, as she is one of the last people who should be advising on economic policy.
There is nothing anyone can say to make Americans disbelieve their eyes when they look at their empty wallets.
There is a reason why voters are so unhappy with Biden’s economic policies. That is because no matter how much left-wing "journalists" attempt to gaslight Americans, you can never contradict people’s actual lived experiences with inflation.
That said, the last think that will get Biden more votes is an economic illiterate lecturing Americans by pointing a finger at the working class.
