Thanks 2A: Armed Thugs Attempt to Rob Uber Driver. Get Dropped Instead!
As 2016 comes to a close we've been doing some reflecting on the past year. Some of this year's highlights include failed robberies conducted by the functionally retarded (see Gunman With AK-47 Robs Waffle House. Gets Dropped by CC Holder...). Speaking of which, a couple of thieving highway pirates attempted to hold up an Uber driver yesterday. They picked the wrong dude to rob...
The deady encounter started shortly after the Uber driver picked up a passenger... around 5:50 a.m., police said. A Dodge Caravan cut off the Uber on the road next to the Lehman Causeway. A man emerged with two handguns drawn, ready to rob the Uber driver. But then the Uber driver drew his own weapon. Four shots later, the robber was dead on the scene. The accomplice sped away in the Dodge Caravan. The Caravan was later recovered by police.
The driver was not hurt in the violent robbery attempt... [The] passenger inside the Uber also was not harmed.
The driver had a permit for the gun and won't be facing any charges, but he may not be working for Uber much longer...
According to Uber's website, the company prohibits "riders and drivers from carrying firearms of any kind in a vehicle while using our app." Violators could lose access to Uber, the policy indicates.
Turns out Uber's are supposed to be "gun free." Guess the robber didn't get the memo (watch Morning Joe: 'Gun Free Zones Are Stupid').
Unfortunately, this guy's gun-totingness may cause his modern taxi service to come to an end. A small price to pay to go down as the ultimate badass of all drivers in the history of Uber. Also, thanks to him, his passenger lives to catch a ride with a stranger another day. Not a bad trade off.
But seriously, can I hire this dude as my personal chauffeur? Knowing how to deliver a mouthful of lead to armed maniacs seems like a good qualification.
By the way, Uber's no gun policy perfectly exemplifies how strict gun control can hurt regular, law abiding citizens in the end (see Actually, Carrying Guns on College Campuses CAN Make Them Safer. Here's How...). Had this guy followed the ride share rules, he'd likely be doing less ride sharing and a lot more dead being. A point oft overlooked by gun control activists. Which is why you can expect to see precisely zero coverage of this in leftist media...
