If Australia was any other country, soldiers being told they weren't allowed home because of quarantine would be a shocking story. Instead, because Australia is the authoritarian butthole of the southern hemisphere, it barely makes the top five. Sky News has the exclusive.

Australian soldiers were sent to Afghanistan to rescue refugees. As soldiers from throughout the planet have been doing. The rub is that other countries don't have Australia's insane lockdown policies. In order for the Australian soldiers to return home, they need a special exception from the government in order to quarantine in Australia. So they are stuck in Dubai.

This is my favorite part of the story. Because, apparently, it should be easy to get the exception:

This is despite providing a special exemption to Indian cricketers and the wives and girlfriends of NRL footy players, who were provided with the opportunity to quarantine in Brisbane, despite a two-week ban on new arrivals.

Girlfriends and sports stars get the exception easy-peasy. Service members coming home from a humanitarian mission? There is a hold-up with the paperwork. So these soldiers are forced to get 'rona tested every three days and sleep on the floor of a gym. Though they are still treated better than Joe Biden treats some of our service members.

We all hope the Australian government gets around to giving the country's brave soldiers an exception to be able to stay in a hotel. Again, if this were any other country, this would be shocking. But we're talking about Australia. They put dogs down so that no one rescues them, build corporate-sponsored "health" camps, and want to mandate an app that will send police to your house. The soldiers may want to stay in Dubai.
