Backstreet Boy Nick Carter Accused of Raping Fellow Pop Star Melissa Schuman
I guess she didn't want it that way. Nick Carter should have quit playing games with her heart. Her only wanted to rock her body right. I'm getting all the jokes out of the way early, because this is a pretty brutal accusation.
Former singer Melissa Schuman accused Nick Carter of raping her when she was 18, he was 22. Their managers set them up thinking it would be good PR. Despite Schuman having a boyfriend at the time. Morals schmorals. There were magazine covers to sell! Teeny bopper dreams to create. Probably breakfast cereals, a new cartoon. Sketches will need some reworking after this accusation. "Make Carter's face angrier... yeah, that's it. More rapey."
Sounds like they only hung out once:
She claims Carter invited her and a friend to his Santa Monica apartment for what she calls a "casual hangout" -- and after some boozing he started making out with her. In a very graphic blog post, Melissa claims he eventually took her into a bathroom, he forcibly performed oral sex on her ... and then forced her to reciprocate.Melissa says she repeatedly told him she did not want to have sex, and was saving her virginity for her husband. She claims Carter took her to a bedroom, and then forced her to have intercourse.
Schuman says she told her manager about the alleged rape, but was told Carter's legal team was too powerful, and publicly accusing him would hurt her career.
The story gets sleazier: her manager told her to keep her mouth shut. Rather opposite of what Carter (allegedly) demanded of her. That's key here.
When rape/assault accusations reach the mainstream, the first response from the peanut gallery is "Why didn't she go to the police?" Schuman, at least according to her, did say something. She went to her manager. The same dirty gremlin who wanted to set them up in the first place. Before you Monday morning quarterback this, don't.
Think about it. You're an 18-year old opening act. Carter's in, at the time, one of the biggest groups in the world. Who is going to believe you when the people around you don't have your back? When millions of dollars are at stake? You, or one of the cash cows? Uh huh.
As of yet, no response from Carter.
