Woman Sues Dude Over Bad Date, But This Video of Her Fighting With the Judge Is the Crazier Part
It's a tale as old as time. Boy meets girl. Girl gets stood up on date. Girl sues boy for $10,000. Girl gets into a fight with the judge overseeing the hearing. Someone get me a development deal with Hallmark!
QaShontae Short is suing Richard Jordan for $10,000 after he did not show up for their 2020 date "and left on her mother's birthday and her mom had just passed away. This, per QaShontae, intentionally and deliberately hurt her, so she wants ten grand. The hearing just took place with Judge Herman Marable Jr. Pro-tip: When filing a frivolous lawsuit, don't get into a fight with the judge.

QaShontae fighting with the Judge is where all the crazy comes from. But Jordan had the quote of the video:
"'To be honest with you, sir, I thought this was just gonna be thrown out. We had a date--one date--and nothing else after that, and now, I'm being sued for $10,000. I think this is a waste of your time."
The crux of Judge Marable and Short's argument was whether or not standing up someone on a date was a criminal offense. Judge Marable said it was not. Short claims Jordan committed perjury when he agreed to the date but didn't show up. At one point after showing she had no idea what perjury was, QaShontae yelled at the Judge for insulting her intelligence.
All while Jordan thinks about the crazy train he avoided with this one.
Also, I admittedly was unaware of the new way we do court hearings until I saw Gaige Grosskreutz fall out of a chair drunk. But is it normal for people to appear before the judge via Zoom while they are at the airport? If I were a judge, I might take offense to that, especially when it's the person responsible for the lawsuit, and the lawsuit is this stupid.
The case has been sent down to a circuit court. Hopefully, that Zoom call is just as entertaining.
