Watch: The Batman's Teaser Trailer Finally Dropped. Holy Crap It Looks Insane
The teaser trailer for the new The Batman movie was released on Saturday at DC Fandome. DC Comics has been in the news recently with Superman shattering the glass ceiling and becoming the 217th comic book character to come out. Then The Batman teaser dropped with Batman beating the sh!t out of people. And ... dude!

There was some angst amongst fans when they named Robert Pattinson as the news Bruce Wayne. Pattinson is most known for playing a sparkly vampire and not much else. Instead of Wayne being a billionaire badass, there was concern he'd be writing sad poetry and cutting himself while listening to My Chemical Romance. Instead, based on these two minutes and forty seconds, we're getting something closer to The Dark Knight. TDK is widely considered to be the gold standard in the Batman franchise.
Truthfully, the recent Batman films have been consistently good. Justice League was the drizzling shits. But Batman v Superman is underrated, and the Christian Bale flicks were all on point. Even Joker was solid. It's because Batman movies are less comic book movies than they are crime thrillers. Comic movies exist only to set up other comic books movies. They are so cluttered with CGI they look like glorified cartoons. Batman movies have always been story-based and less dependent on computer-generated special effects. When you actually blow sh!t up, it makes all the difference in the world.
Colin Farrell is playing The Penguin. He was the old school gangster in the trailer who looks nothing like Colin Farrell. And while The Riddler for me will always be Frank Gorshin, this new cat playing the character as more of a sociopath looks promising.
On a personal note, it's cool to see the Batman character still around for a new generation. He was my favorite growing up, to the point my sister's first word was "Batman." He's my three-year-old nephew's favorite now. Though the nephew won't bee seeing this. It'll give him nightmares.
