Ben Shapiro may not be as big as Arnold Schwarzenegger but the man is an intellectual giant. Anytime a leftist ninnymuggin steps to the yarmulke-clad warrior, Shapiro chews them up, spits them out, then makes it home in time for Shabbat. Just ask Cenk Uygur. Since the left stands no chance of dethroning Shapiro in verbal combat, they have to resort to other methods. Like demanding 15 grand in "security fees" for Ben to speak at Berkeley.

UC Berkeley is forcing conservative students to shell out more than $15,000 in security charges to host Ben Shapiro, just as Berkeley’s chancellor unveils plans for the school’s “free speech year.” Most campus groups would be unable to cover this cost, but Young America’s Foundation and its concerned supporters are stepping in to pay what is effectively a tax on free speech.

Despite Berkeley College Republicans notifying UC Berkeley months in advance of their plans to host Ben Shapiro for a campus lecture through Young America’s Foundation, the school at first claimed to have no available venues. After UC Berkeley magically found a venue for YAF and BCR to host Ben Shapiro this September, the school trumpeted its own benevolence in offering to waive fees for the use of said lecture hall. Now, they’re foisting a $15,738 “security charge” on conservative students.

UC Berkeley thinks we're too simple to see what they're doing. Banning Ben outright would be a bad look. So, they tried making up excuses like there being no room to accommodate the speech. Since everyone saw through that, they tried a different tactic. Namely, relieving Young Americans for Freedom of their hard-earned cash under the guise of "security fees." Otherwise known as extortion.

Why are administrators at Berkeley going to such lengths to keep Ben from speaking? Because they're terrified of losing their lemmings to Shapiro's philosophy of independence and common sense. Such ideas run contrary to the left's belief in the all powerful nanny state. Leftists know their ideas would flounder in an intellectual free market. Stifling free speech is the only thing keeping leftist "thought" alive.

There would be no cause for security fees if those leftists could keep their obese, blue-haired warthogs from escaping their enclosures. Instead of holding Ben Shapiro and YAF responsible for leftist violence, maybe look to the indoctrinated idiot with the molotov cocktail in his hand.

One thing's for certain. Berkeley is no longer the free speech capital of the west. Once upon a time, they might have been champions for free discourse and intellectual diversity. They surrendered that title long ago. Instead, they've become a haven for braindead hippies and social justice whiners, who can't fathom the thought of there being other viewpoints. Give them a blanky and pacifier.
