If you hadn't heard, UC Berkeley is hosting a "free speech week" next week. That we'd have to advocate for free speech when it's been in the Constitution for nearly 250 years is kind of a bummer. But it's also, apparently, news that men like boobs. So here we are. Leftists gonna left. Predictably, the so-called "progressives" on campus aren't thrilled with the thought of people sharing their opinions freely. So triggered are unlicensed words, the faculty is calling for a campus-wide boycott during the events, citing safety concerns.

More than 200 UC Berkeley instructors and faculty members are calling for a shutdown of classes and activities when right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos and other conservative speakers visit campus this month.

In a letter sent to the campus community this week, the faculty members said that a boycott of Yiannopoulos’ “Free Speech Week” would protect their students from potentially deadly violence. The letter cited shootings, stabbings and beatings during confrontations between the right and left in Seattle, Portland, Ore., Charlottesville, Va., Maryland and Virginia.

“As faculty we cannot ask students and staff to choose between risking their physical and mental safety in order to attend class or come to work in an environment of harassment, intimidation, violence, and militarized policing,” the letter said.

So, let me get this straight. The mere presence of a difference perspective is a threat to the students' mental safety. If that's the case, those youngsters were never mentally sound to begin with. It's time for a parent-teacher conference for an entire generation.

I have an alternative to their cute little boycott that will blow your minds. Let the speakers peacefully share their opinions without protest. If you don't care to hear the speeches, don't go to them. Everybody wins in the end. Your mind=blown.

They wouldn't need "militarized policing" if leftists would keep their two-by-fours and their bricks to themselves. It seems every time a group of non-leftists wants to have a public gathering, they have to dodge a swarm of melee weapons and projectiles. All for the simple act of sharing their opinion.

Conservatives and libertarians wouldn't have to make such a big deal about free speech if the left wasn't so vehemently opposed to it. This is a monster progressives created themselves. In a gender neutral lab, of course. Organizing boycotts and protests was only bound to attract even more free speech supporters. The left crying about Milo's mean words is what made him a celebrity in the first place.

Leftists are against free speech at a fundamental level. If a speaker differs from progressive orthodoxy in the slightest, he's a Nazi who needs ousting. Even if he's a harmless, compact nerd in a yarmulke. We only have decades of leftist brainwashing on our campuses to thank for that.
