WATCH: Bernie Sanders Is Dangerously Wrong About Israel vs. Palestine...
The benefit of being a front-runner is that you don't have to say crazy stuff to appeal to your base. Well. You don't have to say crazy things to your base. Obviously some are still free to go about running off their cackling mouths. Granted most of what the left believes is crazy in the first place, but these comments Bernie Sanders - who is Jewish - made about Israel are pretty shocking...
“Do you think Secretary Clinton has ignored the suffering of the Palestinian people?” Stephanopoulos interjected.“Well, I think if you listen to her speech, that was the major speech, she had one line on the Palestinian people,” Sanders said. “I think that Israel has every right in the world to respond to terrorism, but I think in the Gaza it was a disproportionate response.”
Clinton during her AIPAC speech condemned the Palestinian leadership for inciting violence against Israel, which has led to a spree of Palestinian terror attacks targeting Israelis in recent months.
“And you can’t just always nod your head to [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu. He is wrong on occasion,” Sanders added.
Stephanopoulos then cited the Anti-Defamation League’s statement that Sanders’ comments “play into the hands that Israel is the main problem in this conflict.”
As an aside, whenever I hear "proportional response," I always think of this "West Wing" clip...
Wait... how does one elect THAT guy? Seriously.
Okay, now being serious for real. Palestinians attack Israel, and we're told that "both sides" need to show restraint. Israel defends itself...and it's not a proportional response. Israel defends itself well, and it's not a proportional response. The lesson, then, to Palestinians should be, if you attack Israel, they're going to beat the living hell out of you. Why? Because they have every right to respond to attacks in force. If Israel replied to a Palestinian attack with a carpet bombing, that would be appropriate. Why, you ask? Because Palestine attacked first. Don't want to be carpet bombed? Don't attack.
Of course leftists like Sanders believe responding in self-defense, especially strongly, with great force, is wrong. Because fairness. It's not fair that Israel is stronger than Palestine. At least militarily. And morally. If something is unequal it is obviously unfair in the addled mind of a leftist.
And don't cry "Israeli oppression!" with the expectation of the lauding of your great intellect. Pull out a map. Look at the Jewish State as it compares to its neighbors. Now, read about how Palestinians are teaching their children, toddlers even, to stab the jews. Also check out these Pro-Palestinian Protesters Chant 'Allhu Akbar' During Peaceful Israeli's Speech...
Lastly, a third video for you. Watch this little historical video from Prager University about the Israeli and Palestinian crisis...
