Best Buy has fired a whistleblower who went public after audio-recorded conversations between the worker and a manager revealed a ban on Christian symbols while promoting preference for the LGBTQ community.
“My family fled religious persecution in Serbia so I could live my life as a Christian without being persecuted for my beliefs — yet that is exactly what is happening,” Enis Sujak, a former Best Buy employee, wrote on a GiveSendGo page. “On September 1, 2023, Best Buy terminated my employment because I stood firm against workplace discrimination based on my religion and I exercised my right to be a Christian.”
Religious freedom is the oldest constitutional right that should not have to be maintained through legal battles. But here we are in 2023 fighting woke companies to protect our most basic foundational principles.
Sujak recently exposed a recorded conversation with his manager Michael Hirsch to James O’Keefe arguing that employees promoting LGBT culture is fine but promoting Christianity is not.
The discussion revolved around an incident involving another employee, Athena Cruz, who was delivering a presentation about the history of the LGBT community in the workplace. Sujak expressed that he was not interested in "who you sleep with,” and that he believed sexuality has no place in the workplace.
Sujak recorded the conversation with Hirsch, during which the following quotes could be heard:
“Let’s have the cross all over the hub….why don’t we have Christian stuff all over?” says Sujak, to which Hirsch replies with “they’re not the same [as pride flags]”. He continues “you are choosing to believe in Christianity….they [LGBTQ community] don’t choose it.”
Basically, Hirsch believes that religion is a choice, but that members of the LGBT community are born that way. In other words, a two-year-old does not choose to be born as the wrong sex, but because you choose to be religious, it is permissible to infringe upon your rights.
Sujak will be filing a civil rights lawsuit against Best Buy for violating the law.
This news comes LESS THAN A MONTH after O’Keefe Media Group revealed Best Buy is partnering with McKinsey & Company on a Management Training Program that is not open to white applicants.
Best Buy’s statement on equal opportunity claims it will not "discriminate on the basis of age, sex, race, color, creed, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, alienage or citizenship, disability, marital status, military or veteran status, or any other legally recognized protected basis."
We all know that is not true and it is time for them to eat their own words. But if progressives didn't have double standards, they would have no standards at all.
Sujak is doing the right thing here. We should all defend religious freedom and not cave to woke companies seeking to infringe upon our most basic rights over those who demand a particular political interest or ideology must defeat our basic constitutional principles.
