So, while most of America was being disappointed by the This is Us season finale, progressive America fell on their faces from disappointment and embarrassment on behalf of Rachel Maddow, and her big "Trump tax return reveal." Call a plastic surgeon. The news hasn't been this sad since revealing the Fearless Girl statue was standing in the snow, ignored. After at least one year of pure conspiracy theory hype about Trump being a tax cheat, it turns out Trump paid more in taxes in 2005 than most Americans will ever see. And when you're schtick is Trump didn't pay any taxes, this reveal isn't exactly grade-A material.

But it gets worse...

Many tweeters in Matt Bruenig's tweet stream are missing the forest for the trees, getting caught up in "but we don't know how much each entity was making." Big picture here, internet. We're looking at percentages, and Donald Trump paid a quarter of his earnings, while socialist mascot Bernie the loser who didn't earn a paycheck until he was 40 (yes really), only 13.5 percent. But "the rich" need to pay more in taxes, for the college whiners who need loans for their Child Development degree. So they might later flip burgers and bitch about needing more money.

But it gets worse. At least for MSNBC.

What makes the embarrassment of Maddow's big reveal all the more tasty is this little nugget: new life being breathed into this Heat Street joint about just how many MSNBC employees have tax problems. So while their butch-cutted lesbian anchor complains about other rich people not paying taxes, her coworkers are... not paying taxes:

A Heat Street review of public records show that a total of six current, prominent MSNBC pundits have recently settled federal or state tax liens, while one still has tax problems. Moreover, at least two other hosts who recently left the network have also had massive tax liens filed against them.

The Rev. Al Sharpton — MSNBC’s Sunday morning host — easily comes in first place when it comes to “issues” with the taxman. He and his various entities—including several dissolved by New York for failure to pay taxes—currently owe about $1.5 million in state and federal taxes, interest and penalties, according to public records.

Sharpton is joined by Chris Matthews. Last summer, Maryland took out a lien against the Hardball host and his wife for nearly $4,000 before Matthews paid up.

There's an expression for such a scenario. Lesbians who live in plate glass houses shouldn't throw sticks of dynamite shaped like dildos. Oh sure, no one at MSNBC is planning a run for La Casa Blanca anytime soon. I get it. But if you're going to bitch, moan, whine, complain and make conspiracy theories about someone not paying their taxes, maybe, just maybe, ensure your own people have their tax situation all in order. There's another expression for that: Have all your Donald Ducks in a row before you smash them with your black kettles on national TV lest someone make a meme out of your face. Man am I feeling the wisdom today.

While you're out and about making the coin for yourself, thinking about how grateful you are to be a galaxy smarter than Maddow, say a prayer for Rachel and all of media, who just lost one of their most beloved conspiracy theory talking points in such a dramatic flair, not even a peaceful Muslim migrant could out-suicide bomb the glow.
