We usually try to give Bill Maher a pass when he says obnoxious leftist things. The guy's something of an ally on free speech and Islam, and it's not like we're lacking in content of other celebrities saying obnoxious leftist things, either. But, on this one, screw you fella.

These places that got flooded, like Texas, okay, they have a low tax base. So, the federal government bails them out. Their governors, their legislators they don’t believe in climate science. It seems like the responsible folks in this country, the people who pay a little more taxes and the people who believe in climate change are bailing out the people who hate government, except when they need government when they’re in trouble.

That seems a little unfair.

Billiam couldn't be further off the mark here. Conservatives want government to be smaller, not non-existent. Instead of blowing our tax dollars on butchering babies and giving grants to study lesbian pudge, we'd prefer the money go toward basic services. Like providing a little disaster assistance after a hurricane turns our towns into waterparks. I fail to see what's so complicated about that.

Since when did hurricanes become so political, anyway? Leftists shamelessly used Harvey as political leverage to push their climate change agenda and even called it karma for conservatives. Now Maher is using Irma to advocate for an all-powerful socialist government. Judging from leftists' reactions, you would almost think they're grateful for these whirling death storms.

I guess leftists want litmus tests to determine who is worthy of getting aid. If you happen to stray from their views, you're on your own. "So, Harvey flattened your house like a pancake. We'd like to help, but you're listed as being pro-life. So yeah, hit the bricks pal." So much for that signature leftist "compassion" and "tolerance." Even in the face of death and destruction, progressives can't put their petty politics aside.

Leftists think they're accomplishing something by making these remarks. They point at every rainstorm and hot summer day that comes along and say "told you so." But, their selfish ego-stroking is only reminding us why we dislike them in the first place.

Besides, the climate change debate is far from over...
