Leading Medical School Claims Your Body Mass Index is Racist (Which We Guess Makes Being Fat "Equity")
It has never been more clear that when they said ‘trust the science’ they really meant ‘trust the political science.’
We already know that fighting obesity is racist as progressives have made it clear this somehow reflects the racist” stigmatization” of Black bodies.
This is probably why Washington University of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri, went all-in on pushing that agenda as they offered a summer course titled “Health Equity and Justice.”
The most ironic part is that obesity is associated with the leading causes of death for minorities. So it is not clear what this nonsense will accomplish or what they are trying to do here.
But it seems that it is safe to assume that the school is more concerned with advancing politics rather than medicine.
As part of that curriculum, there is a feature for "Care of Transgender Patients," which it discusses how nutrition is racist, and that the science behind Body Mass Index is based on the body of a white person.
I assume this means that the course chooses to ignore the fact that 90% of people with type 2 diabetes have obesity or are overweight. Which is nothing more than the school advocating for malpractice and extreme incompetence.
Fox News obtained presentation slides that were shown to students. This showed just how scary it might be for anyone who may encounter in the future one of the graduates at the med school.
The slides revealed the school is pushing its students to advocate for cross-sex hormones, even though they have acknowledged that there is very little evidence of its neural impact, and admitted its effect on neural circuitry is "unknown."
Prescribing puberty blockers for children also violates Missouri law. But it is not clear if the course occurred before or after Aug. 28 when the law took effect.
Another slide discussing "health equity", claimed that nutrition is tainted by racism. The slide contains a video from TikTok that explains that it was white doctors who first determined how many calories one should consume each day and invented the concept of calorie counting.
Dr. Lionel Bradley Pett, "found out exactly what it took to keep the human body alive by starving native children to death."
The speaker in the TikTok video concludes by saying, "And that’s how the deaths of indigenous children became today’s moment in White History. Happy Indigenous Heritage Month."
Other slides implied that BMI was an inaccurate way to analyze health because it is not grounded in reality as it is apparently based on the white body. The slide further suggested that BMI should stand for "badly mistaken idea," as it does not take into account ethnicity or gender.
"There is no disputing that individuals who have high body mass index (BMI) have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease," Dr. Stanley Goldfarb, chairman of Do No Harm, told Fox News Digital.
He added, "Trying to deny this well-established observation is counterproductive and unscientific. While there is no reason to discriminate against individuals who have high body mass index, it is equally important not to dismiss the significance of BMI concerns, especially in children. Providing interventions that educate children about healthy eating habits is crucial for their long-term well-being."
Forget the fact that this school is pushing false information that will subsequently harm patients. But when you spend more time on advancing social and political causes, you spend less time advancing medicine.
But we should not be surprised when the left’s religion holds ‘equity’ as their highest doctrine. This subsequently makes everything racist and evil in their worldview.
But obviously, a school that believes “diversity and inclusiveness fuel success in everything” it does, will only produce doctors who get in by box checkoff.
Progressives will find societal problems and attempt to link them to racism for just about everything, as they ignore the agency of some people. Which does nothing for people who have to make better choices to improve their quality of life.
The left is so racist that they think Black people do not have any agency. And on top of that, they are actively promoting ideas that will subsequently do nothing but harm them.
So if Black people are fat because of Racism, why are White people fat?
Medical care should not be steered by politics that deny health in favor of degenerate worldviews.
But this university wants us all to just forget about excellence in order to promote equity.
Someone needs to remind these people that doctors take an oath to do no harm, and they are actively doing everything but that.
