Jose Alba, the New York bodega employee who stabbed a man in self-defense and was charged with murder for it, has spoken out. (h/t The Blaze)

Speaking through an interpreter, Alba told WCBS-TV, "I feel sad for what happened." His interpreter continued, "He was put in a position where he couldn't tell how it was gonna end. He was just defending his life."

Speaking with Noticias Telemundo, Alba said, "I was in shock. I didn't even know what to do or what to say."

Jose Alba is being charged by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg in the stabbing death of Austin Simon. Simon attacked Alba after Simon's girlfriend became upset because Alba took a bag of chips from her daughter after her EBT card was declined. During the ensuing struggle, Alba grabbed a knife used to open boxes and stabbed Simon. All the while, Simon's girlfriend was stabbing Alba.

It looks like a clear-cut case of self-defense, but that isn't stopping the progressive DA from charging him. The Blaze reports that United Bodegas of America have demanded the charges be dropped. A spokesperson for the organization said in a statement, "Our city is in crisis, and at this point, we are just fed up with people robbing, looting, attacking, assaulting, killing our small business owners."

Progressive DAs have caused the rapid deterioration of Democrat-run cities to spiral even faster nationwide, and this is just another example of one of them being an idiot.

If there's any justice in the world, a jury will spend less than five seconds deliberating before handing down a not guilty verdict. But this is New York, and justice really isn't their thing over there.
