Senators Grassley and Graham have referred Christopher Steele, author of the now famous "Pissing Prostitute" Russian Dossier, to the Department of Justice for investigation. No news yet on if Steele is dousing his fiery pants with his own urine.

WASHINGTON – Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) referred the author of the “Trump Dossier,” Christopher Steele, to the Justice Department for investigation of potential violations of 18 U.S.C. § 1001 for false statements investigators have reason to believe Steele made about the distribution of claims contained in the dossier.

For further explanation:

Under 18 U.S.C. § 1001, individuals are prohibited from making false statements to the federal authorities of the United States. Grassley and Graham are referring Steele for making potentially false statements about the distribution of claims from the dossier.

This referral does not pertain to the veracity of claims contained in the dossier. The referral is for further investigation only, and is not intended to be an allegation of a crime.

Not an allegation of crime.

Now, please do not mistake my love of arguing for legal expertise. I'm not a lawyer. As I understand what's been written in this release, Steele isn't being investigated for lying about Trump in the Dossier. He's being investigated for lying about to whom he spread the lies.

It's not that Steele alleged Trump enjoys the golden showers of ladies of the night. It's that Steele distributed those lies to people like BuzzFeed, then lied about it. Allegedly.

The Washington Examiner confirms:

"Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-SC, a senior committee member, told the Justice Department they believe Christopher Steele, the former British spy who helped put together the dossier, lied to federal authorities about his communications with American journalists."

What Grassley and Graham are saying is Steele lied about to whom he shared the Russian Dossier. The investigation isn't about the Russian Dossier's lies. Clear? I want this to be clearer than the well-hydrated person's liquid emissions. Hence repeating the same point ten different ways. Sorry.

Someone shared the Dossier with BuzzFeed, CNN. It appears as if these senators are trying to get to the bottom of it, once and for all. *Appears being the operative word.
