Every other week, there's something that makes us 'Mericans proud we were the original Brexit. Like, say, this story. A UK psychologist wants to increase the UK's "hate speech" laws to include calling someone a nerd or a geek. The same nation which gave us Stephen Hawking.

Years after "geek culture" has supposedly taken over the world, with popular culture obsessing over Star Wars, Star Trek, comics, and video games, a UK-based psychologist appearing on Britain Today claimed this morning that using "nerd" as a pejorative should be considered hate speech comparable to using racial slurs and gendered insults. Dr. Sonja Falck refers to "high-IQ individuals" as a distinct minority group who have experiences and abuses unique to them, comparing the experiences to those faced by women, racial minorities, and the LGBTQ+ community.

Thankfully the egghead got pushback from someone else on the same show who was from at least one, if not more, of the accepted marginalized groups. But all it takes is for one leftist to put a stupid idea out into the ether for other leftists to pick it up like an STD and spread it. Right now it's just a psychologist. Next, it will be a Harry Potter fan who gets triggered whenever you yell Voldermort at them to watch them cry. Doctor Who fans will call you before a tribunal for saying the show sucks ever since Matt Smith left. Then you'll be a bigot for saying the Lord of the Rings movies were nothing but eleventy hours of people walking.

This author will be brought up on charges by nerds because all of the preceding references would imply someone being a geek. NOT being a nerd. Apparently there's a difference between the two. If you care about the difference, you are most likely a poindexter.

Finally, sometimes insults are just insults. Also, geeks and nerds wear their geek and nerd badges with honor. Have you seen who the richest men and women in the world are? They're geeks and nerds. I just don't see Bill Gates or Elon Musk crying rivers of tears over someone labeling them with a smart people jab. Do you?
