Bryan Callen goes viral explaining ridiculous cost of real estate: Elitists and money laundering
Millennials and GenZ being unable to afford homes is the housing crisis no one is talking about. Out of the eleventy Republican candidates running to be president, you'd think one would. You know, what with a major component of the crisis being Democrats and Democrat sympathizers. But at least our friend Bryan Callen has a little somethin' somethin' to say.
Callen is going viral for a past clip from the Joe Rogan podcast where he explains what was going on and who is to blame. Long story short? Elitists, investment banks, and foreigners.
"In New York City there are high-end buildings that they build. They are 80% empty. Do you know why they are 80% empty? Why there's so much high-end real estate in the country that's totally empty? Because people from China, Russia, and South America who are doing nefarious stuff, they will buy a flat for $140,000,000. They don't live there. They don't rent. They can't as an asset investment. What they do is take that $140 million, borrow against it, and invest it in the stock market. Now in the government, they wash that money, but it f*cks everyone else up."
Presidential candidate Ron DeSantis tried to block countries like China from buying up property, but Joe Biden's Department of Justice is siding with China and fighting it. Now investment firms like Blackrock are getting in on it, buying up single-family homes. It has resulted in average home prices doubling in four years while wages stay stagnant.
As this video explains, trying to buy a home in 2023 requires 49% percent of your income. Four years ago? Only 21%.
I'd like to hear our leaders talking more about this. Less about 2020 or who said what about who on Twitter.
