Rep. Cori Bush Vows To End 'Race-Based Hair Discrimination'
Progressive Squad member Rep. Cori Bush is pushing to end "race-based hair discrimination."
In other news, hair is now racist.
"Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., decried 'hair discrimination' Friday while advocating for legislation intended to prevent Black people from being told how to wear their hair in public.
'Suspending a Black student for having locs is anti-Blackness,” Rep. Bush said on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, while sharing a story of a student who was told to shave his hair. “Congress must pass the CROWN Act and end race-based hair discrimination.'"
I have said this several times and I will say it again. Can we PLEASE, get a list of things that are NOT racist? It is getting increasingly hard to keep track of what inanimate objects are inherently evil and it would just be a lot easier if we do it the other way.
"The CROWN Act, which stands for 'Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair,' makes it so no one can be denied education or employment because of hair texture or styles."
I could be wrong, but I don't think it is the job of elected officials to make laws about hair. And if we make a list of the top 5,000 problems Americans are currently faced with, I just don't see how braided locks make a priority.
But let's be real. Bush is full of crap. She claims that a student was suspended for having braided hair. But if you read the article, the suspension had to do with length. The hair was covering his eyes. It had nothing to do with braids but even if it did, that is not racist.
"In court filings, attorneys for the Barbers Hill School District have said students don’t have a protected right under federal law to wear their hair at the length and style of their choice while attending school.
During Wednesday’s court hearing, Jonathan Brush, one of the school district’s attorneys, said Barbers Hill has for decades had a hair restriction policy for male students related to length."
She either did not read the article or she is lying. I will let you decide which one is the case. But either way, the point is that this is not what you would call "hair racism."
Can we please start making it a requirement that all members of Congress carry around a dictionary? Because if they are going to be making "laws" regarding "racism" they should at least know what that word means.
Progressive will look for anything and everything to justify throwing a tantrum. But not even toddlers are this dumb. Most toddlers don't throw tantrums because of the length of their hair.
It is not this complicated. All the student has to do is follow the dress code and be held to the same standards. It is that simple.
The fact that progressives are pushing for "race-based hair discrimination" also means that white people, bald people, Asians, redheads, and just about everyone else in the country may still face hair discrimination. That is wrong. We cannot have equal hair rights unless we all have hair rights. And to that I say, we must end hair discrimination.
