Pete Buttigieg Dodges Question On If Biden Admin Was 'Caught Off-Guard' On Migrant Surge
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has found some spare time from fighting racist bridges to go on “Meet the Press” as he danced around an answer when asked if the Biden administration had been "caught off-guard" over the recent surge in illegals entering the border.
“Let me ask you about what we are seeing at the border. Recently, the administration sent 800 active-duty troops to the Texas border to deal with the surge in migrants, some record numbers this past week. Was the Biden administration caught off guard by this latest surge of migrants?” moderator Kristen Welker asked.
“Well, what you saw was the administration, as always, responding as needed to conditions being proactive where necessary,” Buttigieg said.
Welker asked again, “Were you caught off guard, though?”
“Look, the president did what needed to be done. And often that involves a rapid response, like the rapid response that this administration directed. But also what we see is a political dynamic where some people seem to prefer that the problem continue, rather than to do something to actually solve it,” Buttigieg said.
Oh, you mean like Democrats? The lack of self-awareness is incredible here.
I am sure it is also just a coincidence that an influx of migrants would subsequently increase the census, since it counts every person living in the United States, including illegals. And arguably, increase democrat electoral votes. That is just a coincidence, right?
And is he talking about the ‘rapid’ response that took three years? I mean, I guess that is quick for a government response.
There have been at least 2.2. million migrant encounters this fiscal year, with 232,972 migrant encounters at the southern border last month, CBP announced on Friday. That is an increase from the 204,087 encounters in August 2022, and an increase from the 183,494 encountered in July and the 144,570 encountered in June.
“And I have to say, that kind of reminds me of what’s going on in the funding fight, where some of the very same people who would line up to take a shot at the administration over something like air travel disruption, are also trying to disrupt us from training more air traffic controllers,” he added.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre also said recently that Biden has "done more" to secure the border and deal with the immigration crisis "than anybody else."
Democrats will blame everyone under the sun before holding themselves accountable. Biden even went as far as to say that “MAGA-Republicans” “continue to undermine” “border security.”
You mean the same MAGA-Republicans who want to build the wall?
Not even their own party members believe this crap anymore. As the Dallas mayor has announced he has switched parties just days after Texas declared a state of emergency over the migrant crisis.
Maybe it is time for Buttigieg to go back on maternity leave.
