Terrorist-Supporting CAIR Wants Confederate References Removed. Because 'Civil Rights'...
You've no doubt heard about the hubbub in Charlottesville, and the subsequent denouncement from everyone ever. At least everyone decent. In response, leftists are doubling down on their quest to tear down the statues of long-dead Confederates, with a new twist. Now, the left is calling for us to scrub our history of any public references that the Confederacy ever existed.
Even CAIR is getting in on the action. CAIR the organization with some ties to terrorists CAIR. Take some insulin shots, it's about to get rich:
Nihad Awad, CAIR’s national executive director, urged state and local governments to erase every symbol and every vestige of Confederate history immediately.“A fitting response to the deadly terror attack on anti-racist protesters in Charlottesville would be for officials in states and cities nationwide to immediately announce that every street, every school, every flag, and every public memorial honoring those who took up arms in defense of white supremacy and slavery will be removed or have its name changed to instead honor those who fought for civil rights,” Awad said in a statement to The Daily Caller.
Um...
Here's a shocker. The Civil War was kind of a big deal. You know, a country divided, brother fighting brother, and all that jazz. It was a complex war fought for complex reasons. Not unlike the sizing of plus models. Slavery being one of the biggest among them. It also wiped out 2 percent of America's population at the time. Imagine, if you will, a box of powdered donuts. Now spoil a few of them with soap and tell me how your day is going. That's how to explain the civil war to liberal minded ninnies.
Yes, the Confederates were on the wrong side of the slavery issue. Reminder: they got bitch slapped. But, good or bad, history is still a thing that happened. The systemic purging of it, simply because it triggers people who weren't alive at the time of the events, dooms us to repeat it. Or so the old proverb goes.
Also, don't you just get the giggles over an Islamic advocacy group trying to take the moral high ground on... well anything? There's a proverb for this situation too. Something about throwing hand grenades in glass mosques while girls are being raped. It'll come to me. Frankly, until their Allah-loving brethren cease the beheadings, kiddie-diddling, and genital mutilations, they have no room to be proselytizing about statues and plaques.
We'll readily admit it. History isn't perfect. Not by a long shot. Lots and lots of bad things have happened since we humans first showed our ugly mugs on this rock. Tearing down statues and renaming high schools won't change that. We need to be reminded of history. Even the bad history. The left cannot be allowed to rewrite history simply because some past history was mean.
