Here's a nifty get rich quick plan: own a gun shop, elect Democrats, reap the cash benefits. Downside? Maybe lose your Second Amendment right. It's a supply/demand issue. With a healthy heaping of the left's hatred of self-preservation. California's latest attempt to squash the already over-regulated citizens of California is about to hit the books. Naturally gun sales hit new record highs.

Supply meet demand.

The new gun control legislation, six bills signed by Gov. Jerry Brown in July, was a boon to 2016 gun sales already on an upward trend. Nearly one million firearms were purchased in California as of Dec. 9, the most recent state data available, compared to just over 700,000 guns sold in all of 2015. Sales have likely soared beyond one million guns since then.

Semiautomatic rifle sales have more than doubled. The California Department of Justice reported 364,643 semiautomatic rifles had been sold by Dec. 9. Only 153,931 rifles were sold last year.

Pacific Outfitters managing partner Chris Ostrom said they haven’t had any semiautomatic rifles in stock for weeks, and before that they’d sell out the day a shipment came in.

“Compared to a normal year, sales are up one thousand percent, it’s ridiculous,” said Petaluma firearms dealer Gabe Vaughn, who owns Sportsman’s Arms on Bodega Avenue. “Pretty much the second we got them they were gone. A lot of them were pre-sold before they arrived to the store.”

Silly leftists. Economics are for kids! So, apparently, is learning anything about guns. For the record, "AR" doesn't stand for "assault rifle." It actually stands for ArmaLite, who is the original manufacturer of the model. That's how it works in the gun world. You'll even note (if you bother to learn), that ammunition is also named after the entity which invented the round. Always. So it's a .40 S&W (Smith and Wesson) and an ACP .45 (Automatic Colt Pistol). And please, for the love of all things bang, a bullet comes out of the gun. A cartridge goes into the gun. So you can't really have a box of "bullets." Educate yo'self.

Sorry, back to California being gun-grabbing dingleberries. Did you note that most of the "changes" to the AR-15 specified to make it less "scary" are cosmetic and do not halt how rapidly the gun is fired (it's semi-automatic, one trigger pull = one bullet fired)? No more telescoping stocks (which just makes it adjustable based on the shooter, but whatever), no more scary vertical grip thingy (pistol grip, which makes the gun easier to hold and aim), and no more magazine ejection. Because people who like to reload their mags quickly will obviously kill you until you're super duper dead. And probably spit on you after the fact. Bastards.

So, lo and behold, leftists who know as much about guns as earthworms comprehend quantum physics, are writing new gun regulations. Because black guns with expandable stocky things are terrifying. Racists. As a result, the already over-taxed, over-regulated Californians are buying as many guns as they can get their hands on. Supply, demand. Felt like I've typed that already.

Who didn't see this happening? The best thing in the world for firearm manufacturers is a liberal legislature. If anything the gun industry might take a slight dip under Trump. Until then, so long as California continues being giant buttwipes, good luck purchasing an AR-15 in California.
