Just yesterday the California Senate gathered in a political quake that ranked high on the sphincter scale. They ended up passing a plan to transform California's current healthcare abomination into a single-payer system. We've been keeping you up to date on that plan (see California's Single-Payer Plan Would Cost More Than Their Budget...). But in case you missed it, it's a plan that would cost the state hundreds of BILLIONS of dollars.

Fret not, for they have a plan to manage the hefty sum owed... By saddling taxpayers with that debt.

As a legislative deadline loomed, California senators Thursday voted to pass a $400 billion plan to create a government-run health care system without a way to pay for it.

Sounds about right. This is California, after all.

Senate Bill 562, by Sens. Ricardo Lara, D-Bell Gardens, and Toni Atkins, D-San Diego, passed 23-14 and will now advance to the Assembly, where it will likely be amended to include taxes.

"What we did today was really approve the concept of a single-payer system in California," Lara said after the vote.

A Senate committee analysis released last week estimated that the state would have to raise a $200 billion in revenue each year, which it said could be done through a 15 percent payroll tax.

After watching the way Obama's ACA ravaged healthcare and turned it into a husk of its former self, many people are reluctant to give the government complete control of the industry. Common sense and all. Tis not so for the soft-skulled ninnies of California. Now there's no liberal shart gasket seated in the White House, the state has taken matters into its own grubby socialist hands. Time to experiment.

Look, state rights are a great thing. California is paving their own way. Straight into the blazing pits of hell. And yes, there's still talk of them seceding from the rest of the States. At this rate, I doubt anyone will be rushing to stop them...
