Campus Party Canceled... For Inviting Non-Black Women? Yes, Really.
When most people hear "campus party gone wrong," they think of underage drinking, poor decisions and projectile vomiting. In this case, most people are wrong. And racist. The modern meaning of "campus party gone wrong" implies that someone, somewhere, at some point was triggered (Liberal College Students Require Counseling Over Traumatically Offensive... Sombreros?!).
Let this story be a testament to a new breed of party crashers. They don't show up uninvited. They don't drink all your booze. No, if they feel offended in any way, they get your party canceled. They've traded in Togas for sandy lady-parts.
An event called "Dinner for the Sistahs" at Harvey Mudd College ended up facing this dreaded fate. Why? Apparently too many "non-Sistahs" were invited. Yes. That's the whole controversy.
Black Lives At Mudd (BLAM) is hosting an event for "Black Woman & Non-Gender Conforming People" in order to have "a celebration of what black women have done for this community...""We want to build a community and have a safe fun space to kick back and chill," BLAM states on the event's Facebook page. "Transportation, food, and tickets will be provided for Black Woman and Non-Gender Conforming people. Allies will be handles according to resources."
I can see why people would be upset over this. There are so many things wrong about it. Not just the slew of typos. Who is "Black Woman" anyway? And a "safe fun space?" Yeah, safe spaces are never fun. Nor are the people who support them. That's why, when they show up to the party, everyone be like...
People were angry that the party had been opened up to men and non-black folk. It would compromise their safe space... and their mere presence would take some of the attention away from the black women. Here's what the response was.
"In my honest opinion, I feel like the dinner is being half-assed, it is last minute, it is devaluing black womyn by not even letting them have two hours with them as the focus (when the event was originally created for Black womyn...like how you gonna make the even called Dinner for Sistahs when the word 'sistah' is historically seeded with Black womyn in mind???).""This is sh*tty and it ignores the fact that a sh*t ton of WOC are anti-black on these campuses. Thanks for being complicit in the violence by opening the space. Gross," stated Erin Houston-Burroughs.
In case you were wondering...
Ah, that clears it up.
This speaks volumes about these folks. They get angry when you don't SJW right. Extreme measures must be taken to preserve the name of "tolerance." Like disavowing their own when they disagree with them. (see Caitlyn Jenner Endorses Ted Cruz. Gay Liberals RAGE!) They have their own set of rules. You wouldn't understand. Bigot.
Eventually the Dinner for the Sistahs got canceled because of all the jimmy-rustling. In its place they "will instead host a forum to discuss the controversy." Too bad, too. I heard Rachel Dolezal was really looking forward to it.
