School Board Bans All Books Published Before 2008, But It's For "Equity" So It's Okay

While the left has twisted the meaning of book ban, the Peel District School Board in Ontario, Canada has brought the phrase to a whole new level.
The school district defended a practice that removed thousands of its books from its school libraries that contained "racist content," "stereotypes," or didn't "affirm students' identities.”
In other words, the impressive complexity of classic novels is being canceled by leftists in favor of political correctness and woke garbage.
The new equity-based book weeding process was implemented by the board last spring in response to a provincial directive from the Minister of Education, according to the CBC.
This also included removing any books deemed to be outdated, which would be if they were not published in the last 15 years, after 2008.
So basically, any book ever worth reading is banned. And they are essentially erasing any history before the year 2008 and replacing it with their woke religion.
Ontario Education Minister Stephen Lecce said it is “offensive, illogical and counterintuitive” to remove books from years past that educate students on history, antisemitism or are celebrated literary classics.
The school board said in a statement provided to CBC that the school board “works to ensure that the books available in our school libraries are culturally responsive, relevant, inclusive, and reflective of the diversity of our school communities and the broader society.”
Since the process began, thousands of books including “The Diary of Anne Frank” and other classics have been removed from several school library shelves.
Leftists get rid of classical literature and anything before the year 2008 because they cannot have anyone actually think for themself or obtain real critical thinking skills.
"This year, I came into my school library and there are rows and rows of empty shelves with absolutely no books," said Reina Takata, who started Grade 10 last week.
Takata, who is of Japanese descent, told the CBC that she is concerned weeding by publication date will erase important history.
"I think that authors who wrote about Japanese internment camps are going to be erased and the entire events that went on historically for Japanese Canadians are going to be removed," she said. "That worries me a lot."
If these librarians had anything more than a narrow mind, they would know the true importance of the classics.
Literary classics look at the complexities of human experience and incorporate valuable and thought provoking ideas and messages.
Their lack of ability to endure through the decades is a testament to their level of knowledge, or lack thereof.
The astounding work that writers have contributed to in western society is now being destroyed by unhinged librarians and woke school board members.
Bring back the books. Ban school boards.
