Canada is trying to act like they have any leverage, whatsoever,” Crowder said. “Canada shouldn’t exist; they should be the 51st state.”
According to NPR:
President Trump signed executive orders Saturday, imposing 25% taxes on most imports from two of the country's biggest trading partners: Canada and Mexico. Goods from China will be charged a 10% tax.
Trump said in a social media post he's taking the action in an effort to address the illegal flow of drugs and immigrants across the United States' northern and southern borders.
In another post Sunday morning, Trump said the tariffs were also meant to address the trade deficits that the U.S. has with a number of foreign countries.
"It's time for [Canada] to be a good neighbor,” Crowder said.
The tariffs will take effect Tuesday.
According to Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, "Mexico will immediately reinforce the northern border with 10,000 members of the National Guard to prevent drug trafficking from Mexico to the United States, particularly fentanyl."
“They have no leg to stand on,” Crowder said. “This is the first time in our lifetime that someone is doing what they actually promised.”
Trudeau told Canadians not to vacation in the United States to fight back against the tariffs.
As of November, the United States trade deficit with Canada was about $55 billion, the trade deficit with Mexico was $157 billion, and the trade deficit with China was around $270 billion.
"We have increased taxes directly on Americans while not applying any type of taxes on foreign nations that want to do us harm,” Crowder said. “This comes from two different worldviews. The leftist worldview is that you exist to fund the government. The other worldview is that the government exists to preserve the culture that has created what has allowed you to be the American taxpayer.”
Crowder predicted that Canada would fall in line by the end of the week.
“We are in the driver's seat and have been funding the rest of the world for a very long time,” Crowder added. “It’s time to collect revenue from other countries.”
The left has been dealing with these problems at your expense for too long.
