The inauguration of Donald J. Trump is next Monday, and some of the performers at various inaugural events have started to be named. There were a lot of the usual suspects like Kid Rock and Jason Aldean, though hearing the Rascal Flats will be playing makes me wonder if it's too late to vote for Kamala. One surprising name was Carrie Underwood, who will perform America the Beautiful before Trump takes the oath of office.

Not everyone was happy about this news. One person who doesn't care? Carrie Underwood.

Whiskey Riff already provided the sampling of idiots around the internets who are outraged by this and claiming they will never EVER listen to Carrie Underwood again. This is where a lesser artist apologizes and begs for the forgiveness of people who don't support their work claiming they'll never support their work again. Underwood, anticipating the haters, had a patriotic response ready for when the haters in the media came asking.

I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.

Much of the surprise of Underwood being announced is that she isn't known for getting political. There was outrage a few years ago because she liked an anti-mask tweet. She didn't share or make an anti-mask comment herself. She merely liked someone else's, and the internets is silly. An argument can be made doing so wasn't "political" as much as "on the right side of history."

What I find more surprising is that more apolitical celebrities aren't taking the same opportunity. If there is one thing that was CLEARLY rejected in the last election, it's the sanctimonious shilling of the entertainment industry towards the anti-middle-class progressive agenda.

Leaving some celebs pondering the consequences of the policies their PR teams tell them to support.

If you are a celebrity who keeps your opinions to yourself and who might even (perish the thought) be right-leaning, now is the perfect time to take part in the clear vibe shift happening in American culture. It's not even about endorsing a specific policy. You shouldn't if you are not well-read on a topic or passionate about it.

However, acknowledging the majority of America that many of your entertainment industry peers look down on sends a strong message. January 20th and the days before it are the perfect time to speak out for unity and to bring Americans together. We had an election. America made a clear choice. On the 21st, everyone can go back to arguing.
