The last few years have seen huge surges in immigration to - surprise! - Mexico. Plot twist: the mothership of border stomping invaders is getting invaded itself, according to Mexican authorities. Apparently Central Americans who are having a hard time getting into Los Estados Unidos are instead choosing to settle down south of the border. Because if at first you don't succeed, there's always Mexico...

Growing numbers of Central Americans have concluded that if they can't reach the United States, the next best thing is Mexico.

Asylum applications in Mexico nearly tripled over three years... Asylum requests this year are poised to [double], human rights advocates say, with most filed by Hondurans and Salvadorans.

Between October 2014 and May 2015, [Mexican authorities] detained more Central American migrants than the U.S. Border Patrol.

Turns out Mexico has a pretty strict border policy itself. Sure, there's plenty of illegal fiestas going on in Baja. But no Central Americans are invited. Unless, that is, you're simply passing through on your way to America...

But seriously, the irony here is astounding. While Mexico is busy trying to secure their own borders from hasty, uninvited Central Americans, they chastise America for being racist prudes (see Mexico President Trashes Trump. Ignores His Own 'Racist' Laws...). Yep, they're hypocrites of the fattest order. Though to be fair, it's hard to lay off the pan dulce.

Mexico has no qualms about deporting Salvadorans in need of a home. Good for them. But America deporting loads of illegal Mexicans? Totes not cool.

The more secure America's borders are, the harder it is for the Mexican government to pawn off their illegals, and everybody else, onto us (see President-Elect Trump Causes Joblessness, Violence... for Mexico?!). In a strange twist of fate, Mexico is getting a taste of its own medicine. Aaand it appears they don't like it. Needs less Honduran migrants and more Tapatío.

Meanwhile, that wall's starting to look pretty muy bueno...
