Charles Barkley: 'Black People Have Always Voted Dem...And They're Still Poor!'
While he usually votes Democrat, Charles Barkley has been letting his Republican tendencies slip out. Somebody call the #BlackLivesMatter police! Recent comments have shown he's a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment. He's also willing to vote Republican in next years Presidential election.
Unfortunately, that Republican seems to be John Kasich.
Here's what he said on the Dan Patrick Show...
"I vote Democratic most of the time, but the Democrats don’t have a candidate I really like.Neither one of the parties is doing anything for poor people. They’re both full of it. Black people have been voting for Democrats their whole life, and they’re still poor. Republicans don’t do anything for poor people, either. So, I vote for the person I like the most and right now, it’s the governor of Ohio [John Kasich]."
Obviously we don't agree with everything he says here, least of all is the John Kasich part. Montel Williams is also supporting John Kasich. Seriously, we just don't get it, but I can't begrudge them. Baby steps.
Two points though:
1. Charles Barkley reaches an apolitical audience that a) is bigger than the audience conservatives reach, and b) is the audience conservatives need to reach. People will listen him more than they will most anyone who is running for office. That's key.
2. There are actually other Republicans, more conservative ones, who have spoken out about his main issue. Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, and Rick Perry have all made it part of their campaign.
We just need to nudge him toward a little more research to get him off of this Kasich thing. But still...
