Which is why stories like this latest round of weekend shootings make nary a headline across the nation, even though they're growing increasingly tragic...

Police said most of the people shot, not all, were targeted.

"They were targeted knowing fully well that individuals would be at homes of family and friends celebrating the holiday," Johnson said.

Johnson renewed calls for tougher penalties for repeat gun offenders and said officers have recovered 45 guns from the streets since Friday.

"These gun offenders have repeatedly shown us that they're not going to play by society's rules," Johnson said.

Hold the phone. Criminals don't play by rules? They don't abide by gun laws? Even if they're the toughest gun laws in the nation?

Not to make light of the situation with a gif. It doesn't change that families will forever associate the holidays with tragedy. That tragedy being a failure on the part of criminals to follow the laws already set in the great state of Illinois.

But how many times must we go over this?

Chicago had the toughest gun laws in the nation. Didn't stop these hooded heathens from targeting rival gangs for the slaughter.

Oh, you noticed that too? Slipped in before the cutaway from the police chief, he mentioned these were gang attacks. Two of the victims were pictured, both were black. If it's rival gang violence, we will have to assume the perpetrators were also black, no? Which would mean we have a black-on-black violence for Christmas 2016. Maybe I'm just slow, but where's the rally from Black Lives Matter condemning the brutality? Anyone?

Uh huh. Not out there. Because black lives don't seem to matter as much when blacks are taking other black lives. But when a white police officer shoots a black man (or woman) for reasons which might be entirely justifiable, the BLM butt weasels are out in full force. But hey, can't blame them, can we? Narratives must be protected at all costs. Even if that cost is more black people slaughtered at the hands of other black people.

As for "more gun control," I know that's another favorite leftist narrative, but...
