Welcome to Chicago, a place that critics call the crime and murder capital of the midwest. Where progressive voters who reelect the same failed progressive leaders over and over again cry out, "Why won't someone do something?!" Well, here are people doing something. Here are police breaking up an illegal street race... and being pelted with rocks for their trouble.

A caption with the video says police tried to respond to reports of more drifting and drag racing. Last weekend, one of these illegal races left a woman dead. The city has imposed a crackdown on these street takeovers. Police were sent to break this one up.

Instead, police left with six squad vehicles pummeled by heavy objects like rocks and street signs.

David Brown, Police Superintendent, said at a press conference Monday, "We will hold you accountable for this behavior, regardless of when. We are going to be relentless in identifying you. As long as there are no consequences, this behavior will continue."

This is the same Chicago police that Mayor Lori Lightfoot demanded ask permission before they pursue a suspect on foot. So, it's unclear how criminals will be held accountable or, if the police manage to hold criminals accountable, whether or not city leaders will have their backs.

The lax enforcement of laws in Chicago is causing small business owners to move their businesses elsewhere. Criminals are so empowered in Chicago that someone flashed a gun behind a reporter just because he could. And that reporter was reporting on gun crime at the time.
