Chicago City Council To Voters: Nope, You Don't Get To Vote If We're A Sanctuary City
Let everyone know you're a strange animal with the Strange Animal long sleeve! Get it today at CrowderShop.com.
For quite some time, people on the left have been screaming that voter ID is racist and that it subsequently targets black voters to disenfranchise their vote because leftists truly believe that black voters are too incompetent to get an ID. Although the left pretends to care about these voters, they will only keep up that charade if it will benefit them and their insane causes. That is why elected officials in Chicago just decided that voters are not allowed to decide if they want their tax dollars to be wasted on people who are not even supposed to be here. They will not be allowed to decide if their tax dollars should be spent on their children and communities, or if it should be wasted on other people's children.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times:
“Mayor Brandon Johnson and his City Council allies on Thursday used a parliamentary maneuver to squelch an advisory referendum that would have allowed Chicago voters to weigh in on whether Chicago should remain a sanctuary city.
A special City Council meeting called to consider the issue was over in less than an hour and never got off the ground.
Instead, Johnson ruled that the proposed referendum championed by Ald. Anthony Beale (9th) needed a two-thirds vote, or 33 alderpersons, for the measure to be considered because it had not been approved by the Rules Committee.
The council’s vote was 31-16, which doomed Beale’s bid.
Beale’s proposed referendum would have asked voters in the March 19 primary: ‘Should the city of Chicago limit its designation as a sanctuary city by placing spending limits on its public funding?’”
One of the worst parts about all this is that the City Council could not even be bothered to care about any of this for even one hour. They could not take 60 minutes out of their day to discuss this matter.
What a weird coincidence that the very same people who do not require voter ID because they believe it is suppression, also want to waste the tax dollars of the so-called suppressed voters on things that do absolutely nothing to benefit them, and quite frankly, hurt them and their communities.
It is also a weird coincidence that one of the same places that does not believe in voter ID has also opened up the floodgates to everyone and their grandmas and seems to be incentivizing more people to come who won't have those oppressive IDs.
“We will be on the migrant mission, we will support our undocumented and migrant community, and we will continue to invest in our Black communities,” Ald. Jessie Fuentes said according to the outlet. “The Trump tactics of the right of sowing division between our communities will end. And our vote today was an indication that there is a City Council that will not allow those tactics to thrive here.”
Let’s get this straight, the city council wants to support the “undocumented,” who also don’t have ID, by spending the hard-earned money of its “black communities” by not allowing them to decide how the fruits of their labor will be spent. But that is okay because the council has both interests in mind and it does not matter if voters don’t want their money being spent on those other interests who are not even supposed to be there.
Yeah, that sounds like a bit of a stretch to me and I can’t wrap my head around that one.
I know Chicago has a lot of crazy progressive laws and local ordinances, but I think it is at least pretty clear that it is not the job of elected officials to support citizens of other countries. And I don’t see how that is a “Trump tactic.” But people tend to go straight to insults when they don’t have much of anything to say to back up their indefensible “arguments.”
All that said, this is true voter suppression and an obvious move to disenfranchise black voters.
