Well, that escalated quickly. You may recall when we told you a few days ago about how the DOJ and Trump Administration were looking to cut sanctuary city funding (see Sanctuary Cities Flipped the Bird to ICE. Now Jeff Sessions is Blocking Their Funds...). It didn't go over too well with certain leftist snot gobblers. Naturally. Apparently Chicago is ready to sue over it now. Because if at first you don't succeed, sue until everyone is as unhappy as you are or something.

Chicago will sue the Trump administration on Monday over threats to withhold public safety grant money from so-called sanctuary cities, escalating a pushback against a federal immigration crackdown, Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced on Sunday.

The federal lawsuit comes less than two weeks after Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced the U.S. Justice Department would bar cities from a certain grant program unless they allow immigration authorities unlimited access to local jails and provide 48 hours’ notice before releasing anyone wanted for immigration violations.

In short, Chicago isn't willing to wean itself off the federal government's sweet flow of grant monies. Especially when said monies may be the only thing keeping their city from completely self imploding.

The Justice Department said more Chicagoans were murdered last year than residents of Los Angeles and New York combined, and cited comments by Sessions last week saying sanctuary cities “make all of us less safe.”

Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores said in a Sunday statement: “It’s especially tragic that the mayor is less concerned with that staggering figure than he is spending time and taxpayer money protecting criminal aliens and putting Chicago’s law enforcement at greater risk.”

Un-sanctuary-izing their city would likely help them to become a tad safer. Less crimey illegals seems like a good idea, and at this point one might also pin Chicago as desperate to make the city safer for its inhabitants. What with all the people dying in the streets.

Yeah, not so.

Rather than address these issues or evolve for the better, Chicago has instead opted to throw the bitchiest of fits. Harboring illegal muchachos while demanding the cash OR ELSE! How Chicagoan of them.
