Just like with every other issue, lefties are completely oblivious when it comes to the blasters. Many of us squeeze off a few rounds at the range or clean our carry piece in our spare time. Leftists spend theirs lobbying to have our gats torn from our cold dead hands. All while knowing jack squat about guns. This Chicago Sun-Times editorial is certainly proof of that.

Melrose Park police sent an appalling message over Labor Day weekend when they auctioned off an AR-15-style semiautomatic rifle to raise money for their police union.

They apparently did not care that Melrose Park, the very town they have sworn to serve and protect, bans possession of AR-15s — semiautomatic rifles that can load magazines with multiple bullets.

Um, what the hell does that last part even mean? A rifle can't "load magazines with multiple bullets." I'm starting to think these leftists actually believe these rifles are sentient.

The village bans the gun for good reason. Nobody need such a powerful weapon to protect themselves their homes or to hunt. And the guns can be exceptionally dangerous when they fall into the wrong hands. But, as Robert Herguth reported in Sunday’s Sun-Times, the police raffled off an AR-15-style rifle along with a 9mm handgun.

What's with calling it an "AR-15-style" rifle? It is an AR-15. Not an offshoot. I may be mistaken, but I think the writer is confusing the AR with its full-auto siblings the M16 and the M4.

Congress allowed a ban on assault-style rifles to lapse in 2004, but Congress did not ban common sense. Reasonable people can and do disagree about the proper and lawful place of guns in American society.

But cops raffling off an AR-15 semi-automatic raffle? Just plain stupid

How so? The semi-auto handgun is every bit as deadly as the scary black rifle. Yet, the writer isn't getting his/her/ze's panties in a bunch over that one. But, I have a hunch this dunce has no idea what "semi-automatic" even is.

Anyone who ever fired a semi-auto can tell you it's one bullet per one pull of the trigger. But, the Chicago Sun-Times' only experience with guns is that one time they caught Rambo: First Blood Part II on SpikeTV. As a result, this is the image in their heads when they hear "semi-auto":

Maybe television needs a new rating system: "GEA" for "gun expert's advice is suggested." Or "NSFS" for "not safe for stupid." Or "TOTVD" for "turn off the tv, dumbass." I can be here all day.

Leftists don't know the first thing about the boomity boomsticks, and it shows. Not gonna lie, it's amusing to watch leftists try explaining the evils of the "silent tactical death rifle with the 30-magazine clip and child-seeking missiles." It's equally chuckle-inducing when leftist politicians trot out bogus claims of guns killing 93 million Americans every day. Yes, "every day." I can't.

The Chicago Sun-Times can pull the common sense card all they want. But, their understanding of guns is completely lacking in it. They're better off doing paint by numbers or connecting the dots which eventually form the shape of a gun. Just a generic gun. Or maybe fingers in the shape of a pistol. Whichever is less triggering.
