So much of what entertains Americans has to go through the filter of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The NBA is famously beholden to its Chinese market. Most notably, LeBron James is an avid CCP apologist. But Hollywood probably takes the cake when it comes to kowtowing to the communist despots in China even when the fallout will be catastrophic.

But even when Hollywood decides to bend over backward to appease their genocidal, censorious masters, it often isn’t enough, and the Orwellian staff working in the Chinese version of the Ministry of Truth must do some, shall we say, creative editing before films are fit for public consumption.

In doing so, the CCP has broken the unspoken 9^th rule of Fight Club: Don’t change Fight Club; editing the ending with a ridiculous epilogue they found more tasteful.

But Fight Club isn’t the only film they’ve been less than pleased with. Several popular titles have received similar treatment, and each one is a little more ridiculous than the last, with especially egregious treatment paid to Bohemian Rhapsody, the Freddie Mercury biopic.

It’s difficult to discern reality from parody while identifying the lengths the Chinese entertainment industry will go to censor what they find to be disreputable, but one expects such things from a government bent on controlling so much culture as a means of controlling people.
