Leftist ideology has infected literally every facet of American life. Our government is bent on treating people differently based on race. Our schools push Critical Race Theory and queerness on our children. And even our churches have fallen victim to the left.

The First United Church in Oak Park, Illinois, has decided to take wokeness in the church even further. It’s difficult to see how depicting George Floyd as Jesus Christ could be beaten, but this one is going to give it a run for its money. The Post Millennial reports that, for this year’s Lent, the church will be giving up “whiteness.”

An announcement from the church stated, “For Lent this year […] we will not be using any music or liturgy written or composed by white people.” Instead, the church will be replacing these parts of the worship with “African American spirituals tradition, from South African freedom songs, from Native American traditions, and many, many more.”

They’re basically erasing any evidence that white people were part of creating anything having to do with the church, and they’re doing this in an effort to “unite[] the body of Christ with people of all ages, nations, races, and origins.” By getting rid of “whiteness”…

Not only do I think this church has taken wokeness way too far, I think they’ve actually managed to do so in a way that completely destroys the message of the church. They are shunning an entire race of people to appease a woke minority. They are telling their white parishioners they need to be less than to prop up minorities in the church, but the Bible tells us we’re all made in the image of God.

This kind of racism—whether for virtue-signaling purposes or in earnest—is diametrically the opposite of the Christian message.

If the shoe was on the other foot, this would be national news on every MSM channel. The church would be decried as racist. But in 2022, racism is fine so long as it’s against white people.
