Most administrations will help the incoming administration transition peacefully. Make sure the desks have pens. Ensure there are K-cups for the Keurig. Maybe leave a muffin basket for the incoming communications team. Niceties.

The Obama Admin? Well, in a word...

According to The Times, Obama White House officials waged a campaign to procure, save and disperse classified intelligence regarding Trump associates’ contacts with Russians.

The campaign also involved curtailing the Trump team’s access to highly classified information and of lowering classification ratings on other information about the ongoing Russia investigation so that it could be more widely shared across the government.

According to The Times’ sources, the Obama officials waged the campaign out of fear that the Trump administration would cover up or destroy some of the information.

The report claims that Obama himself had no involvement. I'm sure that's factual. He probably only first heard about it on cable news. But it set the stage for the first few months of leftist attacks (see Media, Democrats Say Jeff Sessions Lied About Secret Russian Ties and CA Assemblyman Wants to Teach Students Russia ‘Hand-Picked’ Donald Trump).

The pettiness of leftists knows no bounds. Let's continue down the primrose scented path for a few more skips. Becuase near the bottom of the Daily Caller article from which we're citing and then drawing insightful commentary (like insinuating one paragraph up that Obama is a liar, liar pants on fire), there's this little detail:

Intelligence agencies ramped up efforts to convert raw intelligence gathered on Trump advisers into information that could be used by analysts. The intelligence was also classified at relatively low levels “to ensure as wide a readership as possible across the government,” according to The Times.

The State Department, then led by John Kerry, also took part in the intelligence-sharing campaign. The agency sent a batch of documents classified as “Secret” to Maryland Sen. Ben Cardin, the top Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee, just before the election.

So what do we have here? I'm going to venture a few semi-educated guesses. Apparently, that's how journalists are conducting much of the news anyway. Same for meteorologists.

Because I'm implicitly distrusting of the left or any of its slavish disciples (what with their penchant for pushing narratives over actual news) I'm rather suspicious of all this "Trump is shagging Russia" rumor-mongering. It reminds me of a tactic oft employed by political ne'er-do-wells: "Repeat a lie often enough, and people will believe it." See also: humans are to blame for global warming, unborn children are blobs of tissue, Donald Trump is Hitler, a video was to blame for the attacks in Benghazi.

Lies, all of them. But leftists know if you keep repeating the lie, people whose intellects are rivaled only by amoebas will run with it. In hopes of sounding well-informed, of course. Ask me again why I can't stand parrotted talking points.

The second option is Trump is a Manchurian candidate, an actual Russian spy of sorts, personally chosen by Putin to usurp The Cankled Queen. Let's pretend that's true for a second. Why didn't the media, who wanted Hillary to win more than people wished cake had zero calories, not discover secret Russian ties during the campaign? Thus ensuring Trump's defeat? Why are they spreading all these desperate rumors now, and not during the campaign?

Which leads me back to the first assumption: all of this Russia talk is but an unoriginal tactic to discredit Trump's administration. What say you?
